What is an HDPE Geomembrane?

A HDPE Geomembrane is a very low-permeability synthetic membrane liner or barrier.

"HDPE" stands for High-Density Polyethylene, a plastic polymer known for its high strength-to-density ratio.

In simple terms, it's a giant, impermeable plastic sheet, typically 1.5 to 3.0 millimeters thick (60 to 100 mils),

used to contain liquids and gases.

UV Resistance: Modern HDPE geomembranes are manufactured with carbon black (2-3%),

which provides excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, preventing degradation from sun exposure before being covered.

Proven Long-Term Performance: When manufactured and installed correctly,

HDPE liners have a demonstrated service life that can exceed hundreds of years under landfill conditions.
